Backpacks, Hoodies, & Sneakers A Town Hall Discussion

On January 18, 2025, NEXMETROPOLITAN proudly hosted our 4th Annual Backpacks, Hoodies, & Sneakers event at North Crowley High School. This impactful event brought together law enforcement officials, juvenile probation officers, students, and community leaders to engage directly with the next generation.

Through dynamic and interactive discussions, we explored the symbolism and real-life impact of backpacks, hoodies, and sneakers—examining identity, perception, safety, and opportunity through the lenses of law enforcement, mental health, and mentorship. Every student in attendance received a new pair of sneakers and a hoodie, reinforcing our commitment to both dialogue and tangible support.

The event also featured local vendors, a live DJ, and exciting giveaways, including a PS5, creating an atmosphere that was both meaningful and celebratory. Most importantly, the experience provided a safe and empowering space for youth to gain insight, build connections, and engage openly with community leaders.

This event was made possible through the generous support of our dedicated community partners. Planning is already underway for next year’s experience, and we look forward to making it even bigger and more impactful.
